Developing skills for self-employment is essential: Professor Dr. Vilas Adhav
A one-day workshop on making paper bags was conducted at the college, jointly organized by the Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension, Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune, and Prof. Ramkrishna More Arts, Commerce and Science College, Akurdi. The workshop began with a tribute to Dr. Baba Adhav, followed by the inauguration by Prof. Dr.Vilas Adhav, Director of the Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension.

In his inaugural address, Dr. Adhav commemorated the work of the great social reformer Dr. Baba Adhav for the poor, labourers, and unorganized sector workers in society, and reviewed the contributions of Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar towards the upliftment of society. He also stated that the ideas of economists like Arthur Lewis, Lord Keynes, and Dr. Abhijit Sen Gupta on labor and employment are invaluable. He further emphasized that students should take advantage of such skill development workshops to achieve their own progress.

he college principal, Dr. Abhay Khandagale, stated in his address that the problem of unemployment in India stems from the lack of expected skills among students. He mentioned that the skills taught in this workshop can lead to self-employment, and assured that the college will provide all possible assistance to students who wish to pursue self-employment through this initiative.
