Book on Indian Knowledge Systems Released at SPPU; Academicians Emphasize Its Educational Significance

The book launch ceremony of Indian Knowledge Systems – Information and Significance, authored by Dr. Dattatray Tapkir and published by Suvichar Prakashan, was successfully आयोजित at the School of Education (Department of Education and Extension), Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU). The event marked an important academic contribution towards promoting India’s rich intellectual and cultural heritage.

On this occasion, the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Dr. Suresh Gosavi and Pro-Vice-Chancellor Dr. Parag Kalkar extended their best wishes for the publication. The book was formally unveiled in the presence of distinguished dignitaries including Prof. Dr. Vilas Adhav (Director, School of Education), Dr. Sanjay Tambat (Dean, Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies), Prof. Dr. Geeta Shinde (Head, Department of Education and Extension), and Dr. Archana Suresh Gosavi.

During the ceremony, the dignitaries shared their valuable insights on the importance of Indian Knowledge Systems in contemporary education. Mrs. Banhatti from Suvichar Prakashan presented the publisher’s perspective, highlighting the relevance and academic value of the book. Author Dr. Dattatray Tapkir elaborated on the inspiration behind writing the book and emphasized its usefulness for students, teachers, parents, and society in understanding India’s traditional knowledge systems.

The program was efficiently organized and anchored by Prof. Dr. Geeta Shinde, while Prof. Dr. Vilas Adhav delivered the presidential address and concluding remarks. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from senior faculty members including Dr. Nankar, Dr. Nirmala Tapkir, Dr. Pournima Kadam, Dr. Gayatri Chaukade, Dr. Nisha Valvi, Dr. Sarika Toravane, Hemlata Patil, and Prapti Devkate, along with a large number of students, teaching and non-teaching staff.

The ceremony concluded on a positive note, reinforcing the importance of integrating Indian knowledge traditions into modern education and research.
