Savitribai Phule Pune University Celebrates Maharashtra Day and International Workers’ Day with Patriotic Fervor

Savitribai Phule Pune University marked Maharashtra Day and International Workers’ Day with great enthusiasm and reverence on Thursday, 1st May 2025. The celebration was held at the University campus with a strong spirit of unity and respect for the state and the working community.

The national flag was hoisted by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Suresh Gosavi, in the presence of dignitaries including Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Parag Kalkar, In-Charge Registrar Dr. Jyoti Bhakere, and Management Council Member Shri Ravindra Shinganapurkar. Also present on the occasion were Dean Dr. Sanjay Tambat, Dr. Supriya Patil, Director and Senate Member Dr. Vilas Adhav, Dr. Sadanand Bhosale, Senate Member Shri Mukund Pandey, and Dr. Raju Ghode.

The event was graced by a large gathering of constitutional officers, faculty members, non-teaching staff, and students, reflecting the collective respect for Maharashtra’s rich cultural heritage and the invaluable contribution of workers in nation-building.

Maharashtra Day commemorates the formation of the state on 1st May 1960, symbolizing the pride and progress of Maharashtra. Coupled with International Workers’ Day, the celebration also honored the dignity of labor and emphasized the university’s commitment to upholding values of hard work, equality, and social justice.

The university reaffirmed its dedication to the ideals of progress, inclusion, and community service as enshrined in the spirit of both commemorative days.
