Informative Session on Higher Education Opportunities in Germany Held at Savitribai Phule Pune University
Pune, March 12: The School of Education, Department of Education and Extension, Savitribai Phule Pune University, in collaboration with the DAAD Information Centre Pune, organized an informative session titled “Study & Research in Germany” on 12th March 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Department of Education, SPPU. The session aimed to provide students and faculty members with detailed information about higher education opportunities, research prospects, and scholarship options available in Germany.
The program commenced with a warm welcome to the distinguished guests and participants. The session was graced by Mr. Ravindra Shinganapurkar, Management Council Member of Savitribai Phule Pune University, and Professor Dr. Vilas Adhav, Director of the School of Education, SPPU. The program was organized under the guidance of Dr. Geeta Shinde, Head of the Department of Education and Extension.
The resource persons for the session were Ms. Dhanashree and Ms. Girija from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). They provided comprehensive insights into the German higher education system and highlighted the numerous opportunities available for international students.
During the session, the speakers explained the structure of higher education in Germany, including the different types of institutions such as universities, universities of applied sciences, and research institutes. They also discussed various Master’s and PhD programs, emphasizing the strong research culture, modern infrastructure, and international academic environment offered by German universities.
A major focus of the session was on scholarships and funding opportunities provided by DAAD and other German institutions. The speakers explained the eligibility criteria, application procedures, and the importance of building strong academic profiles, research proposals, and language competencies. They also guided participants on exploring academic programs, applying through official portals, and preparing the required documentation for admission.
