Programme Coordinators Planning Meeting by SPPU Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension

The Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension at Savitribai Phule Pune University organized a planning meeting for programme coordinators, drawing together university officials, distinguished guests, and college representatives.

Dr. Jyoti Bhakre, Registrar of Savitribai Phule Pune University, and Dr. Charushila Gayake, Finance and Accounts Officer, were invited to address the gathering. Established in 1972, the Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension, formerly known as the Department of Adult and Continuing Education, continues to lead initiatives for diverse age groups, covering topics from student empowerment to elder care, and programs on national integration, financial literacy, and tribal development.

As chief guest, Dr. Bhakre discussed women’s empowerment, reflecting on current challenges, progress, and emerging opportunities for women. Dr. Gayake extended her congratulations to the planning committee for their efforts.

In his presidential address, Dr. Vilas Adhav, Director and Head of the Department, outlined the department’s mission and emphasized the ongoing efforts to empower women through various programs. Dr. Navnath Tupe offered a vote of thanks to conclude the inaugural session.

The second session featured Prof. Apeksha Jadhav, who has been with the Department for 25 years. She discussed strategies for effectively implementing the department’s programs to reach and benefit a wide audience. Dr. Sangeeta Salve recounted the Department’s journey in lifelong learning and extension. Coordinators from various colleges then shared updates on the initiatives they are undertaking within their institutions.

The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Dr. Minal Bhosale, expressing appreciation for the productive exchange and planning efforts.
