Intellectual Integrity is Key to Sustainable Development: Dr. Vilas Adhav

The Department of Economics, Poona College, in association with IQAC, successfully hosted an International Conference on “Innovative Strategies in Economics, Commerce, Finance and Management for a Sustainable and Global Future” on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Poona College, Camp, Pune. The hybrid conference witnessed wide participation from global academicians and scholars.
The event began with a soulful recitation by Dr. Ahmed Shamshad, followed by the welcome address and felicitation ceremony by Dr. Iqbal Sheikh, In-Charge Principal and Chairman of the conference. A conference summary book was released by all dignitaries, marking the formal inauguration of the event.
Dr. Shahid Ansari, Secretary of the Conference and Head of the Department of Economics, outlined the theme and objectives of the event, highlighting the need for innovative strategies for a sustainable global future.
Guest of Honor Prof. Dr. Vilas Adhav, Director, Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension, Savitribai Phule Pune University, emphasized the critical importance of intellectual integrity and honesty in academic circles. He remarked, “Intellectual integration in the academic sector is the foundation of sustainable development.” Stressing the role of moral values—especially honesty—Dr. Adhav called for ethical collaboration across economics, commerce, finance, and management disciplines. He lauded Poona College for providing a vibrant platform for the exchange of innovative ideas and concluded his address with a poetic reflection.
Dr. Nargis Wani, Conference Coordinator, introduced the chief guest Prof. Dr. Vijay Khare, Head of the Department of Defence and Dean, Faculty of Humanities, Savitribai Phule Pune University. Dr. Khare applauded the conference for fostering international academic collaboration and encouraged continued partnerships for global progress.
The conference brought together an esteemed panel of speakers and scholars, including:
