The decision was taken during the 5<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0meeting of the Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee (CSMC) chaired by Shri Srinivas Katikithala, Secretary, MoHUA on 15<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0October 2025. With the latest approvals of 1,40,942 houses, the total number of sanctions under the PMAY-U 2.0 scheme is over 10 lakh. Which reaffirms the Government\u2019s commitment to ensure \u2018Housing for All\u2019.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>The meeting was held in Sankalp Bhawan, New Delhi and was also attended by Shri Kuldip Narayan, Joint Secretary &amp; Mission Director (JS&amp;MD), HFA, MoHUA, Principal Secretaries from States\/Union Territories (UTs), PMAY-U Mission Directors from different States\/UTs and senior officials of the Ministry.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.pib.gov.in\/WriteReadData\/userfiles\/image\/image001SQO6.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>The proposals for construction of houses have been approved across 14 States\/UTs, namely Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Jammu &amp; Kashmir, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Meghalaya, Haryana, Odisha, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Chairing the meeting, Secretary, MoHUA encouraged States\/UTs to increase occupancy of houses while also ensuring infrastructure and connectivity in place. \u201cAfter completion of houses under the scheme, ensure that there is accelerated occupancy. Projects should be finalised in places where there is adequate infrastructure, roads, public transportation and connectivity to ensure ease of living for beneficiaries,\u201d Secretary, MoHUA said.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>JS&amp;MD, HFA apprised Secretary, MoHUA about the status of implementation of PMAY-U 2.0 and said that States\/UTs should focus be on grounding and fast-tracking completion of houses. He added, \u201cTo support the financial needs of the beneficiaries, easy access to loan or loan melas should be organised which will help the beneficiaries to complete their houses on time. Further, the States\/UTs should encourage beneficiaries to complete their houses on time and address the bottlenecks which is delaying the construction process.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>JS&amp;MD also mentioned that there should be a regular campaign on grounding and completion of PMAY-U houses to monitor the progress and added that the Angikaar 2025 campaign of PMAY-U 2.0 has been a force behind fast-tracking the geo-tagging and completion of PMAY-U houses.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>The Committee also reviewed the progress of PMAY-U 2.0 and discussed the strategies to enhance the implementation of the scheme while ensuring timely completion of houses.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>PMAY-U 2.0 focuses on providing dignified living to eligible urban beneficiaries and promotes inclusivity and contributes to making of an equitable society by helping the urban poor, vulnerable sections of society gain access to affordable pucca houses which will improve their living standards. The scheme also promotes women empowerment by sanctioning houses either in the name of female head of the household or joint ownership.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>In the meeting held on 15<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0October 2025, about 76,976 houses have been sanctioned for women alone, including single women, widows and females who are separated, underscoring the Government\u2019s resolve to empower women with access to a safe and dignified living. Additionally, for the welfare of the Senior Citizens, 13,509 houses have been sanctioned. Furthermore, catering to the housing needs of Transgenders, 7 houses have been allotted to them. Among the different underprivileged groups, 29,131 houses have been sanctioned for SC beneficiaries, 6,561 houses for ST beneficiaries and 74,291 for the OBC. \u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Meanwhile, in the total 10 lakh+ houses sanctioned under PMAY-U 2.0, more than 6.31 lakh houses have been allotted to women beneficiaries only, amongst which 70,794 beneficiaries are either widows, females who are separated or unmarried. PMAY-U 2.0 has also sanctioned 163 dwelling units to Transgenders. Additionally, 1.04 lakh houses have been allotted to senior citizens. While 2.20 lakh houses have been sanctioned for SC beneficiaries, 51,181 are ST beneficiaries whereas, 5.35 lakh are OBC beneficiaries.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana \u2013 Urban was launched in 2015 to provide all-weather pucca houses with basic amenities to eligible beneficiaries of urban India. Under PMAY-U, 95.51 lakh pucca houses have already completed and delivered to beneficiaries. Owing to the increase in affordable housing demand, the scheme was revamped and launched as PMAY-U 2.0 in September 2024 to provide financial support to additional 1 crore poor and middle-class families to construct or purchase a pucca house. Under PMAY-U and PMAY-U 2.0, the total number of houses sanctioned are 122 lakhs.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Under PMAY-U 2.0, one crore families will receive financial support of up to \u20b92.50 lakh by the Government to construct or purchase a pucca house in urban areas. Families from the Economically Weaker Section (EWS)\/Low Income Group (LIG) as well as Middle-Income Group (MIG) segments, who do not own a pucca house anywhere in the country, are eligible for benefits under PMAY-U 2.0. The annual household income of the families applying for scheme should be up to \u20b99 lakh.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>PMAY-U 2.0 is being implemented through four verticals \u2013 Beneficiary Led Construction (BLC), Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP), Affordable Rental Housing (ARH) and Interest Subsidy Scheme (ISS).
