style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong><em>\u2018Androth\u2019<\/em>, second of the eight\u00a0ASW SWCs (Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft), being built by\u00a0Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE), Kolkata, was delivered to the Indian Navy on\u00a013 Sep 2025\u00a0at\u00a0GRSE, Kolkata\u00a0marking yet another step towards self-reliance in defence manufacturing.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>The ASW SWC ships have been indigenously designed and constructed as per the Classification Rules of\u00a0Indian Register of Shipping (IRS)\u00a0at GRSE, Kolkata and strengthens Navy\u2019s Anti-submarine, coastal surveillance and mine laying capabilities.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>The name\u00a0<em>\u2018Androth\u2019<\/em>\u00a0holds strategic and symbolic significance, derived from the Androth Island in the Lakshadweep archipelago, underscoring India\u2019s commitment to safeguarding its vast maritime territories.\u00a0 These ships at approx\u00a077 m length, are the\u00a0largest Indian Naval warships propelled by a Diesel Engine-Waterjet combination\u00a0and are equipped with state of the art\u00a0lightweight torpedoes, Indigenous ASW rockets, advanced shallow water SONAR, enabling effective submarine detection\u00a0and engagement in littoral zones.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong><em>Androth\u2019s<\/em>\u00a0delivery is yet another milestone in the Indian Navy\u2019s quest for indigenous shipbuilding upholding the Government\u2019s vision of\u00a0<em>\u2018Aatmanirbhar Bharat\u2019\u00a0<\/em>with over\u00a080% indigenous\u00a0content and stands as a testament to growing domestic capabilities and reducing dependency on imports.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\"
