Union Minister\u00a0of Ports, Shipping & Waterways,\u00a0Shri Sarbananda Sonowal\u00a0declared that India is firmly on track to become the world\u2019<\/span>s third-largest economy by 2029, crediting 11 years of Narendra Modi\u2019<\/span>s\u00a0\u201c<\/span><\/em>decisive and corruption-free<\/em>\u201d\u00a0<\/em>governance for triggering an\u00a0\u201c<\/span><\/em>unstoppable surge<\/em>\u201d<\/em>\u00a0in national development.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Addressing a press conference in Dibrugarh today to mark the NDA government\u2019<\/span>s 11th anniversary, the senior BJP leader said India has broken free from the era of policy paralysis and dynastic misrule and is now powered by welfare-led growth, youth-driven innovation, and massive infrastructure transformation.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span><\/em>In just one decade, over 25 crore Indians have risen above poverty. That<\/em>\u2019<\/span><\/em>s more than the population of most European countries,<\/em>\u201d\u00a0<\/em>Shri Sarbananda Sonowal\u00a0said.\u00a0\u201c<\/span><\/em>This is the Modi guarantee \u2014 delivery with speed, scale and honesty.<\/em>\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Highlighting the economic strides under the Modi government, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal said India\u2019<\/span>s rise to the fourth-largest global economy is just the beginning.\u00a0\u201c<\/span><\/em>By 2029, India will be the third-largest economy. We<\/em>\u2019<\/span><\/em>re building the foundation for a Viksit Bharat \u2014 a developed, self-reliant India.<\/em>\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Shri Sonowal cited the rise of India\u2019<\/span>s startup ecosystem \u2014 from 30,000 in 2014 to over 1 lakh today \u2014 as evidence of the country\u2019<\/span>s changing mindset.\u00a0\u201c<\/span><\/em>This is a new India, led by young dreamers and doers. Over 1.7 crore youth are now part of this vibrant startup movement.<\/em>\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

He also hit out at the Congress, accusing it of\u00a0\u201c<\/span>betraying India\u2019<\/span>s farmers with decades of apathy.\u201d\u00a0Sonowal pointed to schemes like PM-KISAN, PM Fasal Bima Yojana and increased MSPs as proof that the Modi government was\u00a0\u201c<\/span><\/em>restoring dignity and earnings to India<\/em>\u2019<\/span><\/em>s\u00a0<\/em>A<\/em>nnadaata.<\/em>\u201d<\/em>\u00a0\u201c<\/span><\/em>In Assam, we<\/em>\u2019<\/span><\/em>re now offering\u00a0<\/em>\u20b92,350 per quintal for paddy. This is not a handout \u2014\u00a0<\/em>it<\/em>\u2019<\/span><\/em>s a rightful return to our farmers,<\/em>\u201d<\/em>\u00a0Sonowal said.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The Union Minister, who also represents Dibrugarh in the Lok Sabha, said the transformation in the Northeast stands out as one of the Modi government\u2019<\/span>s most defining legacies.\u00a0\u201c<\/span><\/em>Modi ji has visited the Northeast over 70 times \u2014 that<\/em>\u2019<\/span><\/em>s more than any other Prime Minister in history. His vision has turned the region from a neglected frontier into the new engine of growth,<\/em>\u201d<\/em>\u00a0Sonowal said.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Shri Sarbananda Sonowal noted that more than\u00a0\u20b94.5 lakh crore in investment promises had been secured at the recent\u00a0\u2018<\/span><\/em>Rising Northeast<\/em>\u2019<\/span><\/em>\u00a0summit, with major connectivity upgrades under way \u2014 from roads and railways to internet and waterways.\u00a0\u201c<\/span><\/em>Modern river ports at Jogighopa, Dhubri, Pandu and Dibrugarh will soon connect Assam to the world. We are not just building infrastructure \u2014 we<\/em>\u2019<\/span><\/em>re reshaping the future,<\/em>\u201d<\/em>\u00a0Shri Sarbananda Sonowal\u00a0said.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Shri Sonowal praised welfare schemes like the\u00a0PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana<\/em>, which provides free food grains to over 81 crore citizens, and the\u00a0PM Awas Yojana<\/em>\u00a0under which 4 crore homes have been constructed.\u00a0\u201c<\/span><\/em>From health to housing, from nutrition to self-employment, this government has delivered,<\/em>\u201d he\u00a0<\/em>said, citing schemes like the\u00a0PM SVANidhi<\/em>\u00a0which has benefited over 68 lakh street vendors.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Women and youth empowerment, he said, are at the heart of this transformation.\u00a0\u201c<\/span><\/em>From 33% reservation for women in Parliament to schemes like Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, we are reshaping India<\/em>\u2019<\/span><\/em>s social fabric,<\/em>\u201d<\/em>\u00a0Sonowal said. He also highlighted India\u2019<\/span>s rising sporting profile through programs like Khelo India and Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS).<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Touting India\u2019<\/span>s scientific and technological progress, Shri Sonowal said initiatives like Chandrayaan, Vande Bharat trains, and green port development under Sagarmala have positioned India as a serious global player.\u00a0\u201c<\/span><\/em>This is not the India of missed opportunities. This is the India that delivers,<\/em>\u201d\u00a0<\/em>Shri Sonowal said.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span><\/em>A bold Prime Minister, a committed team, and a billion-strong nation with a common goal \u2014 that<\/em>\u2019<\/span><\/em>s what makes today<\/em>\u2019<\/span><\/em>s India unstoppable,<\/em>\u201d Shri\u00a0<\/em>Sonowal concluded.\u00a0\u201c<\/span><\/em>The Modi decade has laid the groundwork. The next decade belongs to a resurgent India \u2014 confident, capable, and ready to lead the world.<\/em>\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
