INDIAN NAVY TO COMMISSION ANJADIP<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

The Indian Navy is set to enhance its Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) capabilities with the commissioning of \u00a0Anjadip<\/em>, the third vessel of the eight-ship Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW-SWC) project. The warship will be formally commissioned into the Eastern Naval Command at Chennai Port on\u00a027 Feb 2026.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0 ceremony will be presided over by\u00a0Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The commissioning ceremony highlights the nation\u2019s accelerated progress towards achieving\u00a0\u2018Aatmanirbhar Bharat\u2019<\/em>\u00a0in defence, as the ASW-SWC project exemplifies the triumph of indigenous warship design and construction. Built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE), Kolkata, Anjadip is a state-of-the-art vessel specifically designed to address the challenges of the littoral combat environment\u2014the coastal and shallow waters vital for the nation\u2019s security.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The vessel is engineered to act as a\u00a0‘Dolphin Hunter’, focused on the detection, tracking, and neutralisation of enemy submarines in coastal areas.\u00a0The ship is packed with an indigenous, cutting-edge Anti-Submarine Warfare\u00a0weapons and sensor package,\u00a0including the\u00a0Hull Mounted Sonar Abhay,\u00a0and\u00a0armed with Lightweight Torpedoes and ASW Rockets. In addition to its primary ASW role, the agile and highly manoeuvrable warship is also equipped to undertake\u00a0Coastal Surveillance, Low-Intensity Maritime Operations (LIMO) and Search & Rescue operations. The\u00a077 meter-long ship, features a\u00a0high-speed Water-Jet Propulsion system,\u00a0enabling it to achieve a top speed of\u00a025 knots\u00a0for rapid response and sustained operations.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The induction of\u00a0Anjadip<\/em>, named after the historically significant island off the coast of Karwar, significantly bolsters the Navy\u2019s capacity to safeguard India\u2019s vast maritime interests and coastal approaches including Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Area, marking another key step in transforming the Indian Navy into a formidable\u00a0‘Builder’s Navy’.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
