The Waves Bazaar, organised as part of Bharat Parv at the Ritz, witnessed a landmark congregation of global cinema experts, technology innovators and policymakers. Hosted by National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) under the WAVES (World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit) initiative, the event underscored India\u2019s rising stature as a \u201cGlobal Content Factory,\u201d highlighting the country\u2019s expanding influence across cinema, media and emerging creative technologies.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

India as a Global Content Factory<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

The day commenced with opening remarks by Shri Gautam Bhanot, GM \u2013 NFDC, who outlined the \u201cWay Forward\u201d for India\u2019s AVGC and film sectors. A high-level panel discussion titled \u201cIndia as a Global Content Factory: Scale, Talent, and New Business Models\u201d, moderated by Vidushi Kain, General Manager \u2013 Media & Communication, NFDC, explored India\u2019s growing potential to lead international storytelling. Featuring Marten Rabarts (IFFR Pro), Katharina Suckale (Bombay Berlin Film Productions), and Tommaso Priante (Luminalia), the discussion highlighted how platforms like Film Bazaar, WAVES Bazaar, and government-supported initiatives such as WAVEX and CIC challenges are strengthening India\u2019s production scale, nurturing talent, and enabling cross-border collaborations, positioning the country as a globally competitive hub for creative industries and innovation.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Ministerial Presentations: Delhi and Maharashtra<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

In a significant push for regional film tourism, both Delhi and Maharashtra presented their strategic agendas. Shri Kapil Mishra, Hon\u2019ble Minister of Tourism, Art & Culture (Delhi), led the presentation for Delhi Tourism, highlighting the capital’s revamped policies for filmmakers.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

This was followed by a presentation on Maharashtra Film City by Shri Ashish Shelar, Hon\u2019ble Minister of Culture (Maharashtra). The Minister detailed the state\u2019s initiatives to provide end-to-end production support and financial incentives to boost local and international projects. Both Ministers were felicitated for their contribution to the cultural economy.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Spotlight on Global Co-Productions: The Kurinji Project<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

At Bharat Parv on 13 February, the Waves Bazaar Global Outreach Delegation at the European Film Market showcased the internationally mounted feature\u00a0Kurinji<\/em>\u00a0through a panel discussion on its India\u2013France\u2013Germany co-production model. The session featured writer-director Payal Sethi and her international producing partners.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

A recipient of the Berlinale Talents fellowship and First Prize at the NFDC Waves Film Bazaar Co-Production Market,\u00a0Kurinji<\/em>\u00a0is a character-driven drama set in Kerala exploring migration, identity, and resilience. Produced by FilmKaravan, known for the International Emmy-winning series Delhi Crime, the project reflects strong cross-border collaboration and highlights India\u2019s growing presence in globally relevant storytelling.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Empowering New Talent: Open Pitches & CIC<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

A dedicated segment, \u201cFilmmakers & Tech Startups Open Pitch,\u201d showcased nine feature film projects spanning diverse genres and regions. These included\u00a0Kabootar<\/em>, a Hindi-Japanese mystery drama seeking co-production partners;\u00a0Yeh Mera Ghar (My Home)<\/em>, a completed art-house drama exploring migration; and\u00a0THE G.O.A.T.<\/em>, a Tamil-English animated children\u2019s feature and XR project in financing.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Other projects presented at Bharat Parv on 13 February included\u00a0Echoes of the Herd<\/em>, an award-winning Himalayan drama;\u00a0White Guy<\/em>, a 1980s UK-set coming-of-age musical;\u00a0Mr. Francis & The Last Standing PCO<\/em>, a Konkani-Hindi fantasy romance;\u00a0KANHI DOOR (Still\u2026 Somewhere)<\/em>, a Berlin-India drama;\u00a0Ade (On a Weekend)<\/em>, a Tenyidie coming-of-age story from Nagaland; and\u00a0ICE-PICE<\/em>, a Hindi drama set within a prison.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Innovation was further highlighted through the Wave X showcase, featuring Crewbella\u2019s decentralised festival monetisation platform, Tuttifrutti Games\u2019 AI-powered mythological gaming IP, Zangoh\u2019s generative AI localisation tools, and FolkLog\u2019s animation-led folk heritage platform.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The Create in India Challenge (CIC) winners also generated interest, including\u00a0Road To Jinji<\/em>, a historical animated feature on Rajaram\u2019s escape, and\u00a0The Dream Balloon<\/em>, a large-scale animated fantasy adventure in advanced development.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
