Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, along with Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, today inaugurated development projects worth \u20b9153.63 crore and laid foundation stones for projects worth \u20b965.26 crore in Tripura on the occasion of Basant Panchami. The projects aim to improve road connectivity, power access, and promote livelihoods in tribal and remote areas.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The Union Minister highlighted that these projects are part of a broader effort to transform Tripura into a connected, competitive, and sustainable State, in line with the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for the North Eastern Region. Under the Prime Minister\u2019s mandate of investing 10% of the Gross Budgetary Support (GBS) of all central ministries in the region, over \u20b96.5 lakh crore has been invested across the eight North Eastern states over the last decade. This has fueled infrastructure development, economic growth, and employment generation.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Tripura has seen remarkable progress over the last decade. The State now has broad-gauge rail connectivity up to Sabroom, road length expanded from 850 km to over 1,550 km, and the Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport upgraded to handle 3 million passengers annually. The State has also become power-surplus, with installed capacity of around 1,000 MW, supporting households, agriculture, and industry.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Key projects inaugurated and for which the foundation stone was laid today include:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Jatanbari\u2013Mandirghat\u2013Tirthamukh Road (14 km) to improve access to villages, markets, schools, and hospitals.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Gandacherra\u2013Raishyabari\u2013Narikel Kunja Road (8 km) to connect tribal habitations to district headquarters.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 PMGSY road projects linking interior and hilly regions.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Solar Micro-Grid Projects under PM-DevINE, providing clean and reliable electricity to remote habitations, improving education, healthcare, and small enterprises.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Shri Scindia praised the Chief Minister, Dr. Manik Saha, for his \u201cspeed, dedication and coordination with the Centre,\u201d and said that the combined efforts of the Centre and State have accelerated Tripura\u2019s transformation. He also noted, \u201cTripura should not only be the gateway to the North East, but also a gateway to South-East Asia. Guwahati and Tripura will be strengthened as international connectivity hubs, boosting trade and tourism.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The Minister concluded by emphasizing that these initiatives are designed to provide inclusive growth and sustainable livelihoods, while preserving Tripura\u2019s heritage. \u201cRoads will not merely carry vehicles \u2014 they will carry ambition. Power will not merely light homes \u2014 it will illuminate futures,\u201d he said.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Following the inauguration ceremony, Shri Scindia, along with Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, visited two key PM-DevINE healthcare projects in Agartala: The Agartala Government Dental College Building, aimed at strengthening dental education and public oral healthcare, and the Maternal Child Health (MCH) Wing at AGMC GBP Hospital, focused on enhancing maternal, neonatal, and child healthcare services.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

These projects, together with ongoing initiatives in tourism, industrial development, and social infrastructure, are expected to strengthen Tripura\u2019s role as a strategic hub in the North East and contribute to Viksit Bharat @2047.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
