India\u2019s first nature-themed airport terminal, the airport\u2019s design draws inspiration from Assam\u2019s biodiversity and cultural heritage under the theme \u201cBamboo Orchids\u201d. The terminal makes pioneering use of about 140 metric tonnes of locally sourced Northeast bamboo. A unique \u201cSky Forest\u201d, featuring nearly one lakh plants of indigenous species, offers arriving passengers an immersive, forest-like experience.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Inauguration of Navi Mumbai International Airport<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>However, biggest of them all was Navi Mumbai International Airport, which was inaugurated Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on October 06, 2025. Underscoring that Mumbai\u2019s long wait had ended with the city now receiving its second international airport, the Prime Minister highlighted that this airport would play a major role in establishing the region as one of Asia\u2019s largest connectivity hubs. He also highlighted that the Navi Mumbai International Airport is a project that reflects the vision of a developed India. Built on the land of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the airport is shaped like a lotus flower, symbolizing culture and prosperity.<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.pib.gov.in\/WriteReadData\/userfiles\/image\/image00459AI.jpeg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Months earlier, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had virtually inaugurated the newly developed Satna Airport and the upgraded Datia Airport in Madhya Pradesh on May 29. 2025. The historic occasion marked a transformative leap for the Bundelkhand and Baghelkhand regions. Speaking at the inaugural function at Datia, Minister of Civil Aviation Shri Rammohan Naidu said, \u201cWith the blessings of Ma Pitambara, the \u2018Mini Vrindavan\u2019 of Madhya Pradesh \u2014 Datia now has wings of connectivity.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Inauguration of new terminal of Thoothukudi Airport, Tamil Nadu<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi also inaugurated the new advanced terminal at the Thoothukudi Airport in Tamil Nadu on July 26, 2025. Constructed at a cost of \u20b9450 crore, the terminal is now equipped to host over 20 lakh passengers annually\u2014up from the previous capacity of just 3 lakh passengers. Affirming the Union Government\u2019s commitment to unlocking the full potential of Tamil Nadu by modernizing its infrastructure, Shri Narendra Modi stated that significant strides are being made to upgrade port facilities with advanced technologies. In parallel, efforts are underway to integrate airports, highways, and railways, enhancing seamless connectivity across the state. The Prime Minister remarked that the inauguration of the new advanced terminal at the Thoothukudi Airport marks another major milestone in this direction.<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.pib.gov.in\/WriteReadData\/userfiles\/image\/image005V50S.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Government gives NOC for starting three new airlines<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Ministry of Civil Aviation has given nod for starting new Airlines in India. While Shankh Air had already got the NOC from the Ministry, Al Hind Air and FlyExpress received their NOCs in the mid-December 2025. Informing about it, Civil Aviation Minister Shri Rammohan Naidu posted on \u2018X\u2019, \u201cPleased to have met teams from new airlines aspiring to take wings in Indian skies\u2014Shankh Air, Al Hind Air and FlyExpress\u2026 It has been endeavour of the Ministry to encourage more airlines in Indian Aviation which is amongst the fastest growing aviation markets in the world owing to the policies of the government of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Schemes like UDAN, has enabled smaller carriers Star Air, India One Air, Fly91, etc to play an important role in the regional connectivity within the country and there is more scope for further growth.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.pib.gov.in\/WriteReadData\/userfiles\/image\/image006QBSV.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) revoked Security Clearance of M\/s Celebi and its associated companies<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) on May 15, 2025 revoked the security clearance of M\/s Celebi and its associated companies on grounds of national security. Union Minister of Civil Aviation Shri Ram Mohan Naidu made it clear that nothing was above the security of the Nation and its citizens. National interest and public safety are paramount and non-negotiable. The Minister further stated on the occasion: \u201cWe are also deploying special teams to oversee operations and address any emerging issues in real time. We will continue to uphold national security while ensuring ease of travel and cargo movement across the country.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>MoCA invoked regulatory powers to ensure fair and reasonable fares during Indigo operational crisis<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.pib.gov.in\/WriteReadData\/userfiles\/image\/image00724Z3.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>The MoCA took serious note of concerns regarding unusually high airfares charged by certain airlines during the disruption. In order to protect passengers from any form of opportunistic pricing, the Ministry had invoked its regulatory powers to ensure fair and reasonable fares across all affected routes. An official directive was issued to all airlines mandating strict adherence to the fare caps. These caps still remain in force until the situation fully stabilises. The objective of this directive was to maintain pricing discipline in the market, prevent any exploitation of passengers in distress and ensure that citizens who urgently need to travel \u2014 including senior citizens, students, and patients \u2014 are not subjected to financial hardship during this period. The Ministry continues to closely monitor fare levels through real-time data and active coordination with airlines and online travel platforms. Any deviation from the prescribed norms will attract immediate corrective action in the larger public interest.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>MoCA establishes Passenger Assistance Control Room (PACR) to accelerate passenger grievance redressal<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.pib.gov.in\/WriteReadData\/userfiles\/image\/image008Z4KU.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Ministry of Civil Aviation, under the leadership of Civil Aviation Minister Shri Ram Mohan Naidu, decided to establish a permanent, 24\u00d77 Passenger Assistance Control Room (PACR). It was operationalised for real-time monitoring of aviation operations and expedited redressal of passenger grievances, institutionalising a passenger-first governance approach.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>The initiative is spearheaded by Civil Aviation Secretary Shri Samir Kumar Sinha, with the objective of institutionalising a unified, future-ready advanced mechanism for passenger assistance and crisis response. The PACR function as an integrated hub bringing together officials from the MoCA, DGCA, AAI, airline operators and other key stakeholders under one roof at Udaan Bhawan, in New Delhi. The PACR operates round-the-clock, continuously monitoring aviation operations, attending to passenger calls and coordinating real-time assistance and grievance resolution very efficiently and effectively.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.pib.gov.in\/WriteReadData\/userfiles\/image\/image009HBKK.jpg\" \/><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.pib.gov.in\/WriteReadData\/userfiles\/image\/image010UGW8.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.pib.gov.in\/WriteReadData\/userfiles\/image\/image0114V3G.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>The AirSewa system has also been fully integrated into the PACR, enabling seamless handling of passenger grievances received through it. An omni-channel technology backbone converts passenger inputs into actionable cases, supported by data-driven dashboards that provide live visibility on grievance types, timelines and stakeholder actions. The physical presence of airline representatives within the Control Room allows immediate coordination and on-the-spot resolution of issues. The Secretary expressed satisfaction that as of now, more than 14,000 passenger grievances have been resolved through focused monitoring and expedited interventions at the PACR since December 03, 2025. In addition, over 500 call-based interventions have been undertaken to directly assist passengers during operational disruptions. Grievances related to flight delays, cancellations, refunds and baggage issues are prioritised and addressed in accordance with the provisions of the Passenger Charter.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Furthermore, Ministry of Civil Aviation took serious note of the recent operational disruptions and cancellations of flights across IndiGo\u2019s network. Minister of Civil Aviation Shri Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu personally chaired a high-level review meeting with IndiGo\u2019s senior management in the presence of the Secretary, Civil Aviation; DG, DGCA; senior officials of the Ministry and the AAI. During the meeting, IndiGo presented data on cancellations and attributed the disruption to challenges in crew planning and implementation of the revised Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL)\u00a0 norms, along with seasonal weather-related constraints. He expressed clear displeasure regarding the manner in which the situation has been handled by the airline, and stressed that ample preparatory time had been available to ensure a seamless transition to the new regulatory requirements. The Minister further directed IndiGo to urgently normalize operations and to ensure that there is no increase in airfares due to the current situation.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>The Protection of Interest in Aircraft Objects Act comes into effect<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>The Protection of Interest in Aircraft Objects Bill, 2025 became law on April 16, 2025 after it was passed by both Houses of the Parliament and assented by President Smt. Droupadi Murmu. Thi\u00a0 s marked the second major aviation reform passed under the leadership of Union Civil Aviation Minister Shri Rammohan Naidu. The Act aligns India\u2019s aircraft leasing and financing ecosystem with global standards. The Act builds on the framework of Cape\u00a0 Town Convention 2001, which aimed to simplify and standardise leasing agreements. India formally adopted this convention in 2008, but gaps in legal enforcement led to higher leasing costs\u2014typically eight to 10 percent higher than other nations. Ministry of Civil Aviation, in partnership with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and with support from the European Union has officially released the Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Feasibility Study for India on September 03, 2025. The Government of Rajasthan has transferred 440.06 hectare land to AAI for development of a Greenfield Airport, suitable for operation of A-321 type aircraft. The project includes construction of a Terminal Building spanning an area of 20,000 square metres, capable of handling 1,000 Peak Hour Passengers (PHP) with annual capacity of 20 lakh Passengers Per Annum (MPPA).<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Record number of Commercial Pilot Licenses issued<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>The DGCA has issued 1,628 Commercial Pilot Licenses (CPLs) in 2024 marking it all time high in the history of Indian Civil Aviation, even 06 CPLs more than 2023, the second-highest number ever. That too with the manpower almost half of 2023. The number of CPLs have been increased by more than 2.5 times in the last eight years. The number of CPLs issued in India over the preceding years is as follows: 640 in 2018, 744 in 2019, 578 in 2020, 862 in 2021, 1,165 in 2022, 1,622 in 2023 and 1,347 in 2024.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>MoCA ensured regular air fares after Pahalgam terror attack<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>In the wake of tragic terror attack at Pahalgam in UT of Jammu and Kashmir on April 22, 2025, Union Minister for Civil Aviation Shri Rammohan Naidu moved swiftly to ensure the safety and well-being of affected tourists and victims. As part of immediate relief measures, four special flights from Srinagar\u2014two to Delhi and two to Mumbai\u2014were arranged, with additional flights kept on standby to cater to further evacuation needs. Shri Rammohan Naidu also held an urgent meeting with all airline operators and issued a strong advisory against surge pricing.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Upgradation of Prayagraj Airport for Mahakumbh 2025<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>In order to cater to the anticipated surge in air traffic at Prayagraj Airport during the Mahakumbh period, the Airport underwent a significant revamping and upgradation. The terminal area has been expanded from 6,700 square metres to 18,500 square metres, increasing the peak- hour passenger handling capacity to 2,700 passengers. This infrastructure upgrade, including increased check-in counters, baggage belts and parking bays, enabled the airport to efficiently manage the movement of over 5,80,000 passengers during the peak Mahakumbh pilgrimage period.<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>India achieves another milestone by carrying more than 5.38 lakh domestic passengers in a day on 3,356 domestic flights<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>The civil aviation sector achieved a historic milestone on November 23, 2025 when airlines in India carried 5,38,429 domestic passengers departing across the country in a single day. This is the highest single day traffic in the history. The initiative marked a significant step towards fostering a more inclusive, supportive, and employee-friendly workplace within the Ministry. The cr\u00e8che is equipped for the routine care of children aged six months to six years, including growth monitoring, nutrition, play, pre-school learning, and medical care.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.pib.gov.in\/WriteReadData\/userfiles\/image\/image037CJUL.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>The environment has been designed to be engaging and stimulating for pre-schoolers.
