In a significant stride towards modernizing land administration under the Digital India Land Record Modernisation Programme (DILRMP), the\u00a0Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications, Dr. Chandra sekhar Pemmasani, launched the\u00a0\u2018Land Stack\u2019 in the Pilot Locations of Union Territory of Chandigarh and Tamil Nadu\u00a0and release the\u00a0\u2018Glossary of Revenue Terms\u2019 (GoRT)\u00a0on\u00a031st December 2025\u00a0in New Delhi.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

These initiatives mark a transition towards modern, transparent, and citizen-centric land governance, aligning India\u2019s historical land record systems with the demands of contemporary digital governance.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Land Stack: Enabling Informed Decision Making<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Drawing from international best practices in countries like Singapore, the UK, and Finland, the Land Stack is envisaged as an integrated, GIS-based digital platform.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Currently, citizens often face fragmented information across various departments. The Land Stack addresses this by providing single-window access to land and property information for both citizens and government agencies.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Benefits of Land Stack:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

  • The Land Stack portal enables informed decision-making by citizens through integrated access to land-related information.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n
  • It enhances citizen convenience, transparency and trust.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n
  • It reduces the risk of inadvertent purchase of unauthorised or non-compliant properties.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n
  • It improves inter-departmental coordination and supports data-driven governance.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n
  • It represents a significant e-Governance reform in land administration.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Glossary of Revenue Terms (GoRT): Bridging the Linguistic Divide<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

    India\u2019s land administration is shaped by diverse historical influences, from Todar Mal\u2019s revenue reforms to British settlement systems (Ryotwari, Mahalwari). This has resulted in a scenario where terms like\u00a0Khasra<\/em>,\u00a0Dag<\/em>, or\u00a0Pula en<\/em>\u00a0may refer to similar concepts, while identical terms may hold different meanings across States.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

    To address this, the DoLR, in collaboration with the\u00a0Centre of Excellence in Land Administration and Management (CoE-LAM) at YASHADA, Pune, has prepared the Glossary of Revenue Terms.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

    Highlights of GoRT:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

      \n
    • It provides meanings of various land-related revenue terms in\u00a0Vernacular, Hindi, English, and Roman scripts.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n
    • The objective is to\u00a0harmonize terminology\u00a0to make land data comparable and interoperable nationally, without replacing State-specific terminology.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n
    • It serves as an authoritative reference for revenue officials, policymakers, judicial authorities, and citizens.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      The launch of these initiatives represents a collective national effort to bring coherence to India\u2019s diverse land administration.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
