SS is not just an annual survey but a powerful management tool. With an aim to build Garbage Free Cities, it is catalysing change.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.pib.gov.in\/WriteReadData\/userfiles\/image\/image001RWLP.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>\u00a0This year the theme for Swachh Survekshan is:\u00a0<em>Swacchata Ki Nayi Pehel- Badhayein Haath, Karein Safai Saath (\u0938\u094d\u0935\u091a\u094d\u091b\u0924\u093e<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>\u0915\u0940<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>\u0928\u0908<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>\u092a\u0939\u0932<\/em><em>\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0<\/em><em>\u092c\u0922\u093c\u093e\u090f\u0902<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>\u0939\u093e\u0925<\/em><em>,\u00a0<\/em><em>\u0915\u0930\u0947\u0902<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>\u0938\u092b\u093e\u0908<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>\u0938\u093e\u0925<\/em><em>).\u00a0<\/em>All States and Urban Local Bodies, including Municipal Commissioners and other State representatives, participated in the launch virtually.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.pib.gov.in\/WriteReadData\/userfiles\/image\/image002FLMK.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.pib.gov.in\/WriteReadData\/userfiles\/image\/image003EI69.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.pib.gov.in\/WriteReadData\/userfiles\/image\/image004QRC0.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.pib.gov.in\/WriteReadData\/userfiles\/image\/image0056LJX.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Fostering a healthy competition amongst cities, Swachh Survekshan has\u00a0defined the matrix for swachhata. It has helped in\u00a0benchmarking\u00a0of assessment parameters,\u00a0creating roadmap for Swachh Shehar, steps and components to become a Swachh Shehar\u00a0and ultimately enabling cleaner cities through on-ground visible swachhata.\u00a0Over the past 10 years,\u00a0Swachh Survekshan has stood as a remarkable testament to collaboration and collective responsibility, reflecting the nation\u2019s commitment to making cleanliness a way of life. \u2014 truly reflecting\u00a0<em>Swabhav Swachhata Sanskaar Swachhata<\/em>.\u00a0From\u00a073 ULBs in 2016 to assessing 4900 UBLs in 2024,\u00a0SS has been inspiring cities to raise sanitation standards and deliver quality services to their citizens.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.pib.gov.in\/WriteReadData\/userfiles\/image\/image006YEOV.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Over the years, citizens\u2019 voice has become a strong tool for assessment in Swachh Survekshan. SS has consistently reflected the strength of citizens\u2019 perception and engagement with swachhata, especially visible cleanliness. Further amplifying this, the 2025\u201326 toolkit has been designed to give citizens\u2019 opinions greater power and weightage.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Starting this year, citizens will be able to share feedback\u00a0round the year\u00a0through multiple platforms, including the Vote For My City App and Portal, MyGov App, Swachhata App, and QR codes.\u00a0<em>The citizen validation weightage has been increased considerably.<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.pib.gov.in\/WriteReadData\/userfiles\/image\/image007T2OV.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Swachh Survekshan has been assessing Ganga towns as part of its urban cleanliness framework. Expanding its scope, the assessment will now include\u00a0river towns across the country. A separate matrix has been introduced for\u00a0coastal areas\u00a0to bring it under the Swachh Survekshan ambit.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>MoHUA launched the largest\u00a0time-bound and structured mentorship framework\u00a0in urban waste management mentorship programme under SBM-U \u2013\u00a0<em>Swachh Shehar Jodi (SSJ)<\/em>, in Sept, 2025.\u00a072 Mentor and 200 mentee cities\u00a0signed MoUs to foster knowledge transfer, peer learning, and replication of best practices.\u00a0To strengthen mentorship and peer learning,\u00a0a new award category has been introduced to recognize Swachh Shehar Jodis, based on the average score of jodis, with recognition across each population category.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.pib.gov.in\/WriteReadData\/userfiles\/image\/image0087EGV.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.pib.gov.in\/WriteReadData\/userfiles\/image\/image009VBCF.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>To reinforce quality assurance and institutionalize strong feedback and grievance redressal, Swachh Survekshan has introduced a tightly monitored, protocol-driven assessment framework. A national oversight team anchors the process, complemented\u2014 for the first time\u2014by a dedicated single-point-of-contact in-charge for each State\/UT. Over 3,000 trained field assessors from across the country will conduct a 45-day, on-ground survey covering all ULBs, supported by real-time, GPS-enabled monitoring. The entire process\u2014from evidence submission to verification\u2014is fully digital, transparent, and rigorously quality-checked.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.pib.gov.in\/WriteReadData\/userfiles\/image\/image01073WP.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Following the release of the toolkit, the field assessments are expected to begin from mid-February to March 2026. The GFC and ODF certification assessment will also commence from mid Feb., 2026. Swachh Bharat Mission\u2013Urban stands as a testament to the world\u2019s largest\u00a0<em>Jan Andolan<\/em>, with Swachh Survekshan at its heart\u2014amplifying the voice of every citizen. It has evolved beyond a city-ranking exercise into a powerful platform that empowers citizens as equal stakeholders, fostering ownership, accountability, and pride.
