This massive leap in infrastructure has not only strengthened the national economy but has also led to unprecedented growth in the tourism sector.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Shri Shekhawat stated that India\u2019s tourism sector has undergone a historic expansion over the past decade, powered by focused policy interventions, extensive infrastructure creation, and sustained global branding efforts. These achievements underline India\u2019s emergence as a preferred destination for both international and domestic travellers.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.pib.gov.in\/WriteReadData\/userfiles\/image\/image001HZF6.png\" \/><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Sharp Increase in Tourist Arrivals<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>India recorded 161.16 million International Tourist Arrivals (ITAs) during 2014\u20132024.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs) rose to 86.22 million during 2014\u20132024, up from 52.99 million in 2004\u20132013.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Foreign Exchange Earnings (FEEs) stood at Rs. 18.85 lakh crore during 2014\u20132024\u2014more than triple the Rs. 6.01 lakh crore earned in 2004\u20132013.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Domestic Tourist Visits (DTVs) surged to 18,639.35 million during 2014\u20132024, compared to 6,779.10 million during 2004\u20132013.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Massive Tourism Infrastructure Expansion<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Swadesh Darshan Scheme (2015 onwards)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>76 projects sanctioned with Rs. 5,290.33 crore; 75 projects physically completed.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Swadesh Darshan 2.0 \u2013 Sustainable &amp; Destination-Centric Tourism<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>53 projects sanctioned with Rs. 2,208.27 crore for responsible and tourist-centric development.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Challenge-Based Destination Development (CBDD)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>36 projects approved with Rs. 648.11 crore across:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Spiritual Tourism<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Culture &amp; Heritage<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Vibrant Village Programme<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Ecotourism &amp; Amrit Dharohar Sites<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>These initiatives improve the entire tourism value chain, enhancing visitor experience and accessibility.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Development of Iconic Tourist Centres (SASCI \u2013 2024\u201325)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>40 projects sanctioned across 23 States with Rs. 3,295.76 crore under long-term (50-year) interest-free loans to elevate tourist destinations to global standards.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Assistance to Central Agencies Scheme<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>57 projects sanctioned worth Rs. 845.51 crore for ASI, Port Trusts, ITDC, Railways, etc.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>34 projects completed;
