INDIAN ARMY SECURES INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS FOR NEW DESIGN COAT COMBAT (DIGITAL PRINT)<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

Following the unveiling of the\u00a0New Combat Uniform (Digital Print),<\/em>\u00a0the\u00a0Indian Army\u00a0 introduced the\u00a0New Coat Combat (Digital Print)\u00a0in\u00a0January 2025, marking another milestone in its ongoing journey towards modernisation, indigenisation, and enhanced soldier comfort<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0New Coat Combat<\/em>\u00a0has been\u00a0designed and developed by the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), New Delhi, as a consultancy project under the aegis of the Army Design Bureau. The three-layered garment incorporates\u00a0advanced technical textiles\u00a0and features an\u00a0ergonomic design\u00a0tailored to improve comfort, mobility, and operational efficiency in diverse climatic and tactical conditions.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0Indian Army has successfully registered the design of the New Coat Combat (Digital Print)\u00a0with the\u00a0Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks, Kolkata, under\u00a0Design Application No. 449667-001, dated\u00a027 February 2025\u00a0and published in the\u00a0Official Journal of the Patent Office on 07 October 2025.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

With this registration, the\u00a0exclusive Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)\u00a0for both the\u00a0design and camouflage pattern\u00a0rest solely with the Indian Army. The registration establishes the Army’s\u00a0sole ownership\u00a0and legal protection against unauthorised manufacturing, reproduction, or commercial use by any non-authorised entity. Any infringement of these rights will attract legal consequences, including injunctions and claims for damages, as per the provisions of the\u00a0Designs Act, 2000 and Designs Rules, 2001 and Patents Act, 1970<\/em>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0New Coat Combat ensemble\u00a0includes<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Outer Layer: Digitally printed camouflage coat designed for operational durability and concealment in varied terrains<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n
  • Inner Jacket: Insulated mid-layer using lightweight, breathable materials providing warmth without restricting movement.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n
  • Thermal Layer: Base layer ensuring optimal thermal regulation and moisture control in extreme weather.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    These garments together represent a leap forward in the\u00a0integration of combat functionality with comfort and protection, reinforcing the Army’s commitment to continuous transformation and soldier welfare.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

    This IPR registration underscores the Indian Army’s increasing emphasis on\u00a0innovation, design protection and self-reliance in defence clothing systems. aligning with the vision of\u00a0‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’\u00a0and the Army’s\u00a0‘Decade of Transformation (2023-2032)’.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
