In continuation of the\u00a0Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh (JJGV) Pakhwada\u00a0celebrations being observed from\u00a01st to 15th November 2025, the\u00a0Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, is organizing a series of programmes across the country through its\u00a0Tribal Research Institutes (TRIs),\u00a0Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRSs), and partner institutions. These activities, held under the banner of\u00a0Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh, commemorate the\u00a0150th Birth Anniversary of Dharti Aaba Bhagwan Birsa Munda\u00a0and aim to promote awareness, cultural pride, and inclusivity among tribal communities.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

In\u00a0Odisha, the Tribal Research Institute organized a special programme for tribal students, highlighting the contributions and legacy of Bhagwan Birsa Munda and engaging youth in discussions on tribal identity and empowerment. The Odisha State Tribal Museum also conducted drawing and quiz competitions for school students, encouraging creative engagement with themes of tribal heritage and cultural continuity.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

In\u00a0Jharkhand, an\u00a0educational tour\u00a0was organized for\u00a0over 500 students from three schools\u00a0to visit the\u00a0Tribal Museum located within the campus of the Tribal Research Institute, Ranchi, on\u00a011th November 2025. The visit provided students with an immersive learning experience, acquainting them with the rich cultural heritage, traditional artifacts, and historical contributions of tribal communities from the region. The initiative aimed to foster awareness and pride among young learners about their indigenous roots.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

In\u00a0Arunachal Pradesh, the Rajiv Gandhi University TRI organised a quiz competition on the eve of Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, focusing on tribal history and freedom movements. Students of EMRS, Tizit, took part in a vibrant display of traditional tribal attire, aimed at preserving and showcasing their rich cultural legacy. Adding to the festive spirit, the Galo women\u2019s group from West Siang District presented a soulful traditional folk song celebrating tribal unity and cultural expression.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

In\u00a0Ladakh, the Tribal Research Institute, Kargil Campus, University of Ladakh, hosted an interactive session on the traditional art of Pabu making\u2014an age-old craft deeply rooted in the region\u2019s cultural fabric. The initiative sought to revive traditional craftsmanship and highlight its role in sustaining Ladakh\u2019s indigenous heritage.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The state of\u00a0Goa\u00a0celebrated the Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh Pakhwada through two major events\u2014the Janjatiya Sanskrutik Sammelan at Sanvordem and the Adivasi Khel Utsav at Quepem. These programmes showcased traditional tribal music, dance, sports, and community participation, celebrating Goa\u2019s vibrant tribal culture.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

In\u00a0Andhra Pradesh, the State-Level Tribal Sports and Games Inauguration Ceremony was held at GITAM University, Visakhapatnam. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation of tribal youth and sportspersons, emphasizing physical fitness, sportsmanship, and cultural pride among tribal communities.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

In\u00a0Nagaland, a\u00a0community-based tourism initiative\u00a0was held at the tribal village of Temi Tarku, highlighting the potential of sustainable tourism in promoting local livelihoods, preserving ecological balance, and celebrating indigenous culture. As part of the event, a traditional Tug of War competition was also organized, fostering community spirit, participation, and sportsmanship among the local youth..<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST)\u00a0also contributed to the celebrations by organizing an International Conference on Mental Health. The conference focused on traditional healing practices and community-based approaches to mental wellness among tribal societies, blending modern research with indigenous wisdom.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

In\u00a0Telangana, a meeting with Tahsildars of Mulugu District was convened by the Revenue Divisional Officer at ITDA Hall, Eturunagaram, to review the implementation of tribal development programmes in the region. Additionally, awareness sessions were held to encourage tribal youth towards self-employment, skill development, and livelihood generation, aligning with the broader goals of the Ministry\u2019s empowerment initiatives.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

These events, organized under the ongoing\u00a0Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh Pakhwada, reflect the Ministry\u2019s commitment to celebrating tribal identity, preserving cultural heritage, and empowering tribal communities. Under the visionary leadership of the\u00a0Hon\u2019ble Prime Minister, the\u00a0Ministry of Tribal Affairs\u00a0continues to honour the legacy of\u00a0Bhagwan Birsa Munda\u00a0and uphold the spirit of\u00a0Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas<\/em>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

As part of these efforts, a\u00a0nationwide \u201cJan Sunwai\u201d (Public Hearing)\u00a0will be organised on\u00a013th November 2025\u00a0across more than\u00a056,000 Adi Sewa Kendras\u00a0in the country. The initiative aims to provide a platform for\u00a0grievance redressal,\u00a0multi-department service delivery, and\u00a0community participation\u00a0in local development. It will also review the progress of the\u00a0Village Vision Plan\u00a0and strengthen the engagement of\u00a0Adi Saathis\u00a0and\u00a0Adi Sahayogis\u00a0in ensuring last-mile service delivery.
