COVID underscores the importance of a healthy lifestyle: Vice Chancellor Dr. Nitin Karmalkar 

The importance of health management is understood in light of the situation created around the world by the COVID global pandemic. Also, considering the artificial oxygen shortage created during this period, the importance of yoga, pranayama, diet, sleep and exercise in daily life for a healthy life have been underlined by Dr. Nitin Karmalkar, Savitribai Phule, Vice Chancellor, Pune University. He was speaking at the inaugural function of a two-day international webinar on ‘Recent Trends in Lifestyle and Health Management’ on the occasion of Ajit Pawar’s birthday Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra and President of Pune District Board of Education. He was the President of the inaugural program. Department of Sports and Physical Education, Baburaoji Gholap College, Sangvi, organized this international web conference on the backdrop of COIVD 19 pandemic.
The authories of the institution Hon. Rajendraji Ghadge, Vice President, Pune District Education Association, Adv. Sandeep Kadam, Honorary Secretary, Treasurer Adv. Dr. Mohanrao Deshmukh, Deputy Secretary Laxmanrao Pawar, Joint Secretary Atmaram Jadhav, Director of Sports and Physical Education Board of Savitribai Phule Pune University. Deepak Mane, Principal Dr. Nitin Ghorpade, Physical Director Vidya Pathare were present as the delegates on the occasion.
The international webinar was inaugurated with a national anthem nd it followed by showcasing the glorious history of Indian sports through video and power point presentations. While introducing the inaugural session, the principal of the college, Dr. Nitin Ghorpade explained the purpose and importance behind organizing this international webinar. While guiding the attendees, Honorary Secretary of Pune District Education Board Adv. Sandeep Kadam first congratulated Gholap College for organizing an international webinar on an important topic like health management. He also discussed issues like health, good health style and its essential components, mental stress, balanced diet and gave information about various activities like cycle rallies, yoga training which are always organized by Pune District Education Association for the physical and mental health of students and teachers.
Dr. Deepak Mane, Director, Board of Sports and Physical Education, Savitribai Phule Pune University, pointed out that the COVID global pandemic has changed the entire lifestyle of human beings and explained the importance of immunity. Also, such workshops provide an opportunity for students and teachers to learn about living a healthy life through the speeches and thoughts of internationally recognized experts.
The inaugural session was anchored by Dr. Maya Mainkar and vote of thanks was proposed by Vidya Pathare.
In the first technical session of this international webinar, Natalia Solve, Director of Atmabodh Yoga Institute in Argentina, gave a talk on ‘Yoga and Its Contribution to Health and Lifestyle’. She gave detailed information on the importance of yoga, yoga science, essential elements for better results of yoga, importance of pranayama etc. She also mentioned that yoga is a therapeutic method and explained the scientific relation of anatomy. In this first technical session, Dr. Vandana Pimple introduced the speakers while Dr. Arjun Doke expressed gratitude in the end.
The second technical session was enriched with a talk of the speaker Dr. A.S. Rakesh Tomar, Department of Sports, King Fahd University, Saudi Arabia. He appreciated Nitin Ghorpade and Gholap College. Explaining the interrelationship between ‘Physical Activity and Hypo Kinetic Disease’ Exercise Diet, he explained the importance of playgrounds. What is Hypo Kinetic Disease, its Types, Gaining Weight and Diabetes, Blood Pressure, Cancer Various Food Disorders, Food Marathon, Youth Fitness inactivity, Concept of Exercise, Proper Planning of Daily Exercise and Time, Balanced Diet, Importance of Protein in Diet and Protein were the points that he discussed in his session. On this occasion, Dr. Sharad Aher, Associate Professor, Chandrasekhar Agashe College of Physical Education was appointed as the chief guest. In this session, Dr. Umesh Paneru introduced the speakers while Dr. Vijay Ghadge expressed his gratitude. Both the internationally renowned experts answered the various questions asked by the audience regarding mental and physical health in very simple words. For both these sessions, Dr. Medha Misar was in charge of the Q&A session and the anchor. More than 800 students and teachers webinars through the Zoom app, Facebook Live and YouTube Live.   
In the third technical session of this international webinar, Dr. Kaukab Azim, King Fahd University in Saudi Arabia. talked on ‘Lifestyle and Health Management’. He explained three principles of exercise, balanced diet and proper lifestyle for good health, aspects of healthy health, obesity – fact and numerical analysis, essential lifestyle for healthy and fit health. He also explained the numbers and causes of obesity, diabetes, heart disease, etc. in different countries, the recommendations made by the American Heart Association for good health and gave important tips for better health. On this occasion, Dr Suman Pandey, Department of Sports and Physical Education, Savitribai Phule Pune University. was the chief guest. Dr. Dnyaneshwar Chimte and. Amrita Inamdar introduced the lecturers while Prof. Pritam Oval expressed his gratitude.
In the fourth technical session, Dr. Ashish Fulkar, Associate Professor, National Institute of Physical Education, Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh) was the resource person. While guiding the audience on ‘Body and Mind Fitness’, he explained the relationship between body and mind, noting that the body achieves what the mind decides. He also highlighted the five pillars of Healthy Health Diet, Vihar, Ethics, Thoughts and Behaviors and gave self-management lessons to the attendees especially the students for healthy health. On this occasion, Sopan Kangare, Dr. Chandrasekhar Agashe College of Physical Education, was the chief guest. In this fourth technical session, Pvt. Pournima Kale and Dr. Vaishali Bansod introduced the lecturers while Prof. Vivek Bhosale expressed his gratitude.
Dr. Shraddha Naik, Chandrasekhar Agashe College of Physical Education, who was present as the keynote speaker in the fifth and final session. While giving information on ‘Health Hacks for Functional Lifestyle’, elaborated on various aspects of physical fitness, noting that there is nothing more important than good health. In this session, Dr. Seema Chauhan introduced the lecturers while Dr. Satish Ekar expressed his gratitude. Dr Manisha Shewale was the anchor for this session.
The valedictory program of the two day international web conference was concluded with the eminent sports personality and a National Hockey Champon Mr mong youth is necessary: ​​Dhanraj Pillai. At this time, the principal of the college, Dr. Nitin Ghorpade thanked all the experts for their valuable guidance on health and lifestyle which is an important topic for the students, teachers and the society as a whole through this international webinar and for the spontaneous response to this webinar. While guiding the audience, A M Jadhav, Joint Secretary (Administration), Pune District Education Asociation, commended Gholap College for its successful planning of the two-day international webinar on the occasion of Hon. Ajitdada Pawar Saheb’s birthday celebration. Mirabai Chanu, an Indian female athlete, was congratulated on behalf of the college for winning a silver medal in weightlifting at the Tokyo Olympics. The vice-principal of the college, Dr. Latesh Nikam summarized the two-day international webinar in front of the audience. Vande Mataram was played to conclude this international webinar. The concluding ceremony and valedictory was conducted by Dr. Sangita Ghodake and vote of thanks was offered by Miss Vidya Pathare.
All technical sessions were ended with various questions asked by the audience regarding mental and physical health were answered by these internationally renowned experts in very simple words. More than 1,500 students and teachers attended the webinar through the Zoom app, Facebook Live and YouTube Live.
